GIS
services at ICRISAT are operating under cost recovery procedures.
In order to serve scientists more efficiently, we classify requests
in 5 categories:
1. Light support. This includes all
basic desk mapping tasks that can be executed by a technician
and delivered within a day from the date of receipt of the request.
This service is provided free of charge, and is treated as low
priority. Requests must be sent by email.
2. Print & scan jobs. All map
/ poster color printing and scanning tasks fall under this category.
They are treated as high priority. A budget code is required.
Requests must be logged on an ICRISAT work order request form.
3. Advanced support. This refers
to advanced spatial analysis and image processing tasks, requiring
up to 2 weeks of worktime and usually executed by a scientific
officer. This service is available at a cost, and is given medium/high
priority. A budget code is required. Requests must be logged on
an ICRISAT work order request form.
4. Field work. This involves the
procurement of GIS staff for field work to execute DGPS surveys,
GCP collection, participatory mapping, etc. This service is subject
to special fares and conditions depending on locations. It is
treated as medium/high priority. A budget code is required. Requests
must be logged on an ICRISAT work order request form.
5. Research partnership. This covers
all collaborative activities with a minimum duration of 2 months
per year, which usually require the hiring of dedicated staff,
and have been jointly budgetized as part of a research and development
project. This category receives highest priority.
